JOB SUMMARY
A sleep technologist trainee works under the direct supervision of a registered polysomnographer to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders in the sleep testing center, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, comprehensive patientcare and direct patient education. A sleep technologist trainee is able to perform the duties of a sleep technologist so long as a RPSGT is present. The sleep technologist trainee is enrolled in an accredited educational program leading to an associate degree with an emphasis on sleep technology and has graduated and is awaiting registry.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE
Documents routine observations, including sleep stages and clinical events, changes in procedure and other significant events to facilitate scoring and interpretation of polysomnographic results. Scores sleep studies.
QUALIFICATIONS
Sleep technologist trainees must be enrolled in an accredited educational program leading to an associate degree with an emphasis on sleep technology or have graduated from such program and is awaiting registry.
