Role and Responsibilities
While not all inclusive, the following is a list of tasks to be performed and or coordinated:
- Hold and maintain appropriate licenses and certifications to drive and operate crane
- Be on time and prepared for work every day with proper PPE
- Complete pre-trip inspection on crane prior to leaving the yard including checking fluids, tires, lights, signals, etc.
- Fully understand the crane's capabilities and operate in a safe controlled manner
- Develop DDWP/JSA for the job
- Participate in developing DDWP/JSA when working on locations with other crews
- Help to identify hazards and effective mitigations on jobsite
- Participate in safe work, safety audits, and report near hits
- Be aware of the dangers associated with hazardous atmospheres
- Gather and complete appropriate job permits
- Fill out permits correctly and have the appropriate information and signatures for the specific job
- Perform tasks assigned by Crew Lead and/or Supervisor
- Operate crane in a safe and efficient manner
- Understand load chart, capacity of crane and all lifting components along with weight of load being picked
- Test job site with multi-gas monitor for atmospheric hazards such as H2S or oxygen deficient atmospheres
- Perform monthly self audit to ensure compliance
- Ensure compliance of crane such as vehicle registration, crane annual and quad certs, fire extinguisher date, etc.
- Develop a general knowledge of KSI SOP’s and frequently refer to SOPs for compliance
- Follow all KSI and Customer Policies and Procedures
- Set up various size pipe on jack stands or other forms of support for welding, bolt-up, etc.
- Install or remove various size valves, pumps, compressors, etc.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- 1 year experience minimum
- 2-3 Years experience preferred
Preferred Skills
- Ability to operate crane in a safe and efficient manner
- Ability to communicate with employees and various business partners in a professional and courteous manner
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Knowledge of all KSI and Customer policies and procedures
- Ability to read and write in English
- Knowledge of rigging and binding equipment and loads
- Ability to use gas monitors and read load charts
- Ability to work with pipe and hand wrenches, hammers, shovels, etc.
Pre-Employment Requirements
All candidates must pass a pre employment physical examination, drug / alcohol screen, hold a valid driver’s license, pass a motor vehicle record check and be insurable through KSI’s insurance carrier, criminal background check and E-verify as a condition of successful consideration for employment.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift 50 lbs .and work in harsh weather for long periods of time. Depending on the phase of the job, all personnel are required to work in conditions where physical demands can consist of placing one’s body in various positions to inspect and to accomplish certain tasks such as:
- Sitting
- Standing
- Squatting
- Raising and Lowering objects from one level to another
- Carrying objects, usually holding it in the hands or arms, or on the shoulder
- Grasping objects with the use of fingers, palm and wrists to hold/and or manipulate objects (hammers, saws, pencils, pens etc,)
- Pulling ie. Exerting force upon an object so that the object moves toward the force (includes jerking)
- Pushing ie. Exerting force upon an object so that the object moves away from the force (includes slapping, striking, kicking and treadle actions)
- Bending at the waist, stooping, working in a supine position, twisting seated or standing
Some of these physical requirements will range from seldom, frequent to constant depending on the task
