About the Role: (WEEKENDS)
The Activity Assistant plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents at Gulf Pointe Plaza by facilitating engaging recreational and social activities. This position focuses on promoting physical, emotional, and cognitive well-being through diverse programs tailored to the interests and abilities of individuals in a healthcare setting. The Activity Assistant collaborates closely with the Activity Director to ensure activities are safe, inclusive, and supportive of residents' overall needs. By fostering a positive and stimulating environment, the Activity Assistant helps residents maintain independence, build social connections, and experience joy in their daily lives. This role requires compassion, creativity, and strong communication skills to effectively engage with residents and the care team in a respectful and professional manner.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Previous experience in a healthcare, senior living, or recreational setting is preferred but not mandatory.

Basic knowledge of activity planning and implementation.

Ability to communicate effectively with residents.

Physical ability to assist residents.

Physical ability to perform setups, activities, and cleanups throughout the day.
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with elderly or individuals with cognitive or physical impairments.

First Aid and CPR certification.

Strong organizational and multitasking skills.

Familiarity with health and safety regulations in a healthcare environment.
Responsibilities:

Implement a variety of recreational and therapeutic activities that cater to the diverse needs and preferences of residents.

Assist residents in participating safely and confidently in scheduled activities, providing encouragement and support as needed.

Maintain accurate records of attendance, resident participation, and any observations related to residents' responses to activities.

Prepare and organize materials and spaces required for activities, ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.

Monitor residents during activities to ensure safety and intervene promptly if any issues arise.

Assist with bringing residents to and from activities.

Perform one-on-one room visits 3x/week and maintain accurate documentation.

Deliver residents’ mail, monthly calendars and other items as needed.

The Activity Assistant utilizes strong interpersonal and communication skills daily to engage with residents effectively. Organizational skills are essential for planning and executing a variety of activities while managing time and resources efficiently. Empathy and patience are critical in understanding residents' needs and adapting activities to accommodate different abilities and preferences. Problem-solving skills help in addressing any challenges that arise during activities, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants. Additionally, physical stamina and attentiveness are important for assisting residents and maintaining a secure environment throughout the activity sessions.
