Job description
The Cable Technician is responsible for installing, pulling, terminating, and testing low-voltage cabling systems to support structured voice/data networks, VoIP phone systems, surveillance camera systems, and other commercial technology installations. This position requires a dependable and motivated individual who can work independently or as part of a team while maintaining quality workmanship and professionalism on customer job sites.
This role is ideal for someone with structured cabling experience who is eager to expand their skillset into fiber optic cabling and has the potential to grow into a lead technician role.
Responsibilities
· Pull, route, and secure structured cabling (Cat5e/Cat6/Cat6A, coax, etc.) in commercial environments
· Terminate and label cables in patch panels, jacks, racks, and enclosures
· Test and troubleshoot cabling using appropriate testing equipment to verify proper performance
· Assist with installation of surveillance camera systems and related cabling
· Maintain clean, organized, and professional job sites
· Learn and assist with fiber optic cabling installation, termination, and testing
· Communicate effectively with service, lead technicians, and customers
· Work as a team player to complete projects on schedule
· Ability to eventually lead a crew and manage portions of job site work
· Follow all safety requirements including ladder use, PPE, and jobsite safety procedures
· Maintain company tools, equipment, and materials in good working condition
