Job Description:
The Sow Farm Manager to lead a 5,000-head sow production unit. Reporting directly to the Regional Production Manager, this hands-on leadership role is responsible for driving production performance, ensuring animal welfare, biosecurity, and regulatory compliance, leading and developing a team of 16–20 employees, and partnering with Human Resources on hiring, staffing, employee development, and performance management.
Oversee daily production and operations of a 5,000-head sow unit
Lead, coach, and develop a team of up to 21 employees
Manage employee performance, scheduling, training, and development
Partner with HR and the Regional Manager on hiring and staffing needs
Conduct weekly farm meetings to drive engagement and accountability
Collaborate with Nursery Service Manager on herd health and production metrics
Execute animal care programs including vaccination and medication plans
Ensure compliance with biosecurity, animal welfare, safety, and production policies
Monitor farm budgets, targets, and continuous improvement initiatives
Develop and maintain annual business plans, updating quarterly
Participate in regional and system-wide meetings
High School Diploma or GED required (or equivalent experience)
Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Experience interpreting data and making sound operational decisions
Commitment to animal care, welfare, and industry best practices
Willingness to work Monday–Friday with some weekends and holidays
Ability to stand and move throughout barns for the majority of the day
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs frequently (occasionally more with assistance)
Comfortable working in a farm environment with dust, odors, animal dander, noise, and varying temperatures
Ability to safely work around livestock and farm equipment
