Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms with sterilized instruments and materials, ensuring aseptic technique and infection control standards are maintained.
- Assist dentists chairside during various procedures including restorations, extractions, root canals, and prosthodontic work using advanced tools such as 3D scanners and medical imaging equipment.
- Take and develop dental X-rays while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy and safety.
- Manage patient records efficiently using EMR systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accurate medical documentation and coding.
- Provide vital signs monitoring and assist with pediatric dentistry procedures to ensure patient comfort and safety.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments as a dental receptionist and managing medical records in compliance with HIPAA.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, post-treatment care, and explain dental terminology clearly to enhance their understanding of procedures.
Experience
- Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred, especially with general dentistry or pediatric dentistry environments.
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, and infection control protocols.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft for managing medical records and documentation.
- Experience with X-ray procedures, medical imaging technology including 3D scanners, and radiographic safety standards.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of patient information at all times.
- Ability to perform vital signs assessment and assist with specialized procedures in prosthodontics or endodontics is a plus.
