Apply comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex problems by interpreting technical manuals or similar documents. Work requires familiarity with the interrelationships of circuits and judgment in planning work sequence and in selecting tools and testing instruments.
Receives technical guidance, as required from Supervisor or Lead Electronic Technician III and work is reviewed for compliance with accepted practices. Provide technical guidance to junior technicians.
- Perform preventive maintenance on ground radio communications systems and associated equipment

Inspect equipment at scheduled intervals to assess operational readiness

Troubleshoot and isolate malfunctions using system diagnostics, test equipment, and schematic analysis

Repair, overhaul, and modify RF communications systems, including transmitters, receivers, and antenna interface equipment

Replace defective components and perform operational checks
-
Tune, adjust, align, and calibrate equipment for optimal performance
-
Fabricate and install antenna systems and transmission lines
-
Test repaired components using bench setups and diagnostic equipment
-
Conduct corrosion control procedures
-
Maintain accurate maintenance and inspection records, including logs and data collection forms
-
Record meter readings and equipment performance data
-
Collaborate with management and customers to resolve technical issues
-
Support additional duties as assigned
- Work performed both indoors and outdoors in varying environmental conditions

Travel may be required; must be prepared for location-specific weather and attire requirements

Completion of U.S. Navy Electronics Technician “A” or “C” School, or equivalent training from an accredited technical institution (documentation required)
-
Minimum of 3 years of general electronics experience in preventive and corrective maintenance of complex systems
-
At least 1 year of experience supporting HF, LF, VHF, UHF, or ELF RF communication systems or similar environments
- Experience with high-power vacuum tube systems

Familiarity with NEC ET-1415, NET-1420, or AFCS 2E1X3 programs

Strong working knowledge of:
- RF theory and radio communications principles

Transistors, solid-state components, and vacuum tube technology

Digital electronics and signal processing
-
Technical orders, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics
- Experience using electronic test equipment and applying diagnostic methodologies
- Ability to lift and carry:
- 50 lbs. horizontally up to 50 feet

35 lbs. vertically up to 50 feet
- Ability to work rotating shifts
- Must complete Navy 301 Maintenance Person PQS within the first 90 days of employment

Ability to obtain CompTIA Security+ certification (future requirement)
