We want you to be the face of our Live Succulent Auctions! Surfside Succulents is looking for hosts to join our booming Live Selling team on TikTok, Whatnot, Instagram and other Social/Selling platforms.
Location: San Diego, Bay Ho neighborhood (near Pacific Beach)
Job Type: Part-Time / 1099
Schedule: Shifts are typically 8 hours for Surfside's hosts, including on air time and set up/take down. We are looking for hosts for shifts including late night, early morning, and weekends.
Compensation: $18/hr + 5% commission on all product sales during a Live Show. Surfside’s Live Auction Hosts typically earn $25+ per hour (including commission).

About the Role:
We’re looking for a charismatic, engaging, and high-energy host to lead our live succulent shows. These shows typically run for 5+ hours and involve being on your feet for several hours selling beautiful and unique succulents, engaging with our passionate plant-loving community, and driving sales through on-camera charm and enthusiasm. The role is fast paced, high energy and uninterrupted on screen selling for 5+ hours at a time.
The ideal candidate has had proven success in a sales-oriented role. We are looking for candidates that are energized by selling and earning higher commissions. The majority of a show is selling through auctions to the highest bidder, and upselling additional products at fixed prices from our shop. The earning potential is uncapped for someone with a sales oriented mindset.
What You’ll Do:
- Host live sales of succulents on platforms like TikTok, Whatnot and PalmStreet
- Present each plant in a fun, informative, and enthusiastic way
- Engage with live viewers in the chat — answer questions, react to comments, and build excitement
- Create an upbeat and welcoming environment that encourages buying and repeat customers
- Have a sales-focused mindset, and a drive to maximize revenue and commissions each Show
- Work closely with company owners and be open to feedback and direction on how to optimize your sales approach, presentation style, and auction strategy for success
- Maintain professionalism, even during challenging situations or fast-paced moments
- Think outside the box on ways to profitably grow sales during your shows, and alter show formats to keep viewers engaged over time

- Coachable & Collaborative – You’re open to feedback, willing to try new techniques, and value teamwork with company leadership
- Upbeat and Enthusiastic – You have the stamina to maintain a positive presence for 5+ hours on livestream, with no breaks during your on camera time
Bonus Points If You:
- Have prior live selling or streaming experience
- Are knowledgeable about succulents, or other plants
- Have a fun or memorable hosting style
- Can commit to and maintain a recurring schedule for your Live Shows
- Have a pre-existing social media following you could leverage to bring in more viewers to your Shows
