We are currently seeking a full-time, independent, resourceful, and passionate counselor to support our Beauterre Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). Based on site at our Beauterre campus, this program offers patients a hybrid model of care, with group programming occurring virtually and patients having the option for in-person or virtual admissions and individual sessions. This role also offers a unique opportunity to connect with clients who may be in the Beauterre residential program and support their transition and step-down into IOP services.
Reporting to the Counselor Supervisor, you will play a key role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality clinical services within our Beauterre Intensive Outpatient Program, which places a strong emphasis on the utilization of evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), to support clients in engaging in a successful recovery journey. $5,000 Signing Bonus!
Pay: $66,000 - $74,000 Annually
Shift: The position is on site at Beauterre, facilitates virtual group in the evening. Monday-Friday, on site at Beauterre campus. Facilitating evening virtual group M-Th.

Responsibilities
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Skilled in performing the 12 core functions:
- Screening
- Intake
- Orientation
- Assessment
- Treatment planning
- Group and individual counseling
- Case management
- Crisis intervention
- Client education
- Referral
- Reports and recordkeeping
- Consultations with other professionals regarding client treatment and services
- Knowledge of Minnesota Matrix Six Dimension
- Awareness of cultural diversity and demonstration of sensitivity to various cultural norms and values.
- Assists clients in maintaining county or 3rd party payer mechanisms and for communicating clinical criteria to payers for appropriate services.
- Obtain authorization for funding.
- Maintain professional license.
- Will not admit, transfer, or discharge clients, but may be directed to follow through with the process of implementation of the above by the director or designee.
- Provide treatment coordination services, including but not limited to, coordination with others involved in the client's treatment and recovery, and provision of community resources and connections to clients.
- Attend all staff in services and meetings.
Skills & Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- Must document 12 hours of training in co-occurring mental health problems and chemical abuse of dependency that includes competencies related to philosophy, screening, assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning, documentation, programming, medication, collaboration, mental health consultation, discharge planning.
Experience:
- Minimum 1 year experience in a chemical dependency facility or related and 2-3 years related experience required, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Must know and understand all rules, regulations, and requirements of the assigned program.
- Ongoing training of cultural awareness and demonstration of sensitivity to various cultural norms and values.
- Computer literate.
Licensure/Certification:
- The individual must have current Minnesota State Licensure as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor meeting all requirements of Minnesota Statue 148F.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
- Strong verbal skills and ability to communicate abstract concepts in a simple format
- Ability to communicate with a variety of people from diverse cultures, socioeconomic and educational backgrounds. Flexibility to meet a variety of changing priorities
PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENT
- Social Security Verification: Name must match Social Security number and date of birth
- Criminal Background Check: Nationwide, federal, state, and multi-county (up to 7 years)
- Drug and Alcohol Testing: Must pass pre-employment screening; subject to random and post-incident testing if in a safety-sensitive role

- Motor Vehicle Driving Record review if necessary
WORKING CONDITIONS / WORKING REQUIREMENTS
Physical Requirements:
- Extended periods of sitting, 80% of time
- Occasionally reaching for and lifting client charts, 5 lbs, 10% of time
- Heavy Data Entry on computer, 25% of time
- Frequent handling of paperwork, binders, writing
- Cleared Mantoux Screen
Work Environment:
- Work is performed across multiple EOSIS treatment sites or intake settings
- Fast-paced healthcare environment with varying program structures
- Frequent interaction with clients experiencing substance use and mental health challenges
- Requires flexibility to support multiple programs, locations, and changing priorities
