Position Summary
Reporting to the General Manager, the White Labs Brewing Co. – Asheville (WLBC) Server is responsible for providing exceptional service and overall experience for every guest, serving as the brand ambassador of the restaurant. The Server is expected to be a team player and exhibits positive and productive communication with other team members. This position can be full-time or part time and works various shifts, depending on business needs.
Essential Functions and Duties
- Greets and engages with guests in a friendly manner and provides insightful information about WLBC, as well as food & beverage options.
- Informs guests of specials and menu changes. Be knowledgeable of meals and substitutions.
- Takes food & beverage orders from guests and offers suggestions.
- Enters orders in POS system in accordance with company policy.
- Pours beverages for guests as ordered.
- Delivers food & beverages from kitchen and bar to guests in a timely manner.
- Monitors and observes guests dining experience. Ensures guests are satisfied with food & beverage, service and experience. Responds promptly and courteously to any requests and notifies management as needed.
- Prepares final bill, presents check to guests, accepts payment, processes cash/check/credit or debit card charges or make change (if applicable).
- Assists coworkers and lead as situations/needs arise.
- Assists with clearing and resetting tables.
- Performs side work at the start and end of each shift as required.
- Maintains clean service areas. Tables, seats, floor, window or wall should be cleaned thoroughly after each guest.
- Adheres to all rules and regulations regarding the service of alcohol.
- Adheres to all safety protocols and food handling requirements.
- Attends all scheduled staff meetings and brings suggestions for improvement.
- Performs other related duties and projects as assigned.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Minimum age 21 years old.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous serving experience in a restaurant/bar setting required.
- Knowledge of and passion for fermented food/beverages preferred.
- ServSafe certification required (or ability to obtain within 2 weeks upon hire).
- Certified Beer Server required (or ability to be certified within 3 months upon hire).
- Possesses basic mathematical skills. Ability to handle money accurately and operate POS system.
- Familiarity with health, safety and sanitation procedures.
- Ability to follow SOPs.
- Ability to learn about all products and services WLBC offers to various customer types.
- Proactive and customer-focused. Ability to represent WLBC in a positive manner as brand ambassador and effectively deal with customer-related issues.
- Excellent verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and in team environment.
- Ability to work in fast-paced environment and adapt to changes.
- Punctual attendance and ability to work various shifts, including weekends and evenings.
Physical Demands
Works in fast-paced and high-volume restaurant setting. Noise level may be disruptive at times because of kitchen and customer seating areas. Requires walking, standing, kneeling and/or reaching for more than 75% of workday. Lifting 30 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds.
Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
