POSITION OVERVIEW
Express Employment Professionals – Timonium, MD is recruiting on behalf of a well-established, locally renowned Baltimore-area bakery with deep roots in the community. Our client is seeking a reliable and dependable Delivery Driver to join their team and serve as the face of the company on daily early morning routes throughout the Baltimore metro area and the surrounding counties. In this role, you will be responsible for the timely and accurate delivery of fresh-baked products to supermarkets, schools, synagogues, and individual customers. This is an essential, fast-paced position that requires someone who takes pride in their work, is trusted to operate independently, and understands that in the bakery business — freshness waits for no one.

Shifts begin between 3:30 AM and 6:00 AM daily. If you are not someone who naturally wakes up early and thrives in the early morning hours, this role is not the right fit. If you are the person who is up before the sun, takes pride in starting your day while others are sleeping, and enjoys having your workday wrapped up before noon — this could be a great opportunity for you.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Report to the bakery facility between 3:30 AM and 6:00 AM daily to load your assigned delivery vehicle with freshly baked products per your route manifest.
- Deliver fresh bakery products on a consistent, time-sensitive schedule to supermarkets, schools, synagogues, and residential/commercial customers throughout the Baltimore metro area.
- Verify outgoing orders for accuracy before departure, ensuring correct product types, quantities, and packaging match delivery documentation.
- Maintain a professional, courteous, and positive demeanor with all customers at each stop — you are the face of the company on every delivery.
- Obtain customer signatures and complete delivery receipts, logs, and paperwork accurately at each stop.
- Handle all products carefully to prevent damage during loading, transport, and delivery, maintaining product quality and presentation standards.
- Return undelivered or rejected product and complete all required end-of-route documentation upon return to the facility.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections; report any maintenance needs or vehicle issues to management promptly.
- Maintain a clean, organized vehicle and delivery area at all times.
- Communicate proactively with dispatch regarding route delays, customer issues, or any on-route changes.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be an early riser with the ability to consistently report to work between 3:30 AM and 6:00 AM — this is non-negotiable.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; ability to safely operate a delivery vehicle throughout the Baltimore metro area.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs repeatedly throughout each shift.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to complete a multi-stop route on schedule independently.
- Reliable, punctual, and accountable — routes cannot be delayed because of late arrivals.
- Positive, customer-friendly attitude with strong communication skills.
- Basic math skills and attention to detail for order verification and delivery documentation.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior experience in food distribution, bakery delivery, or a similar route delivery role.
- Familiarity with the Baltimore metro area and surrounding neighborhoods.
- Experience delivering to retail grocery, institutional (schools, houses of worship), or commercial accounts.
- Experience using delivery management software, handheld scanners, or route apps.
