We are seeking a detail-oriented Sterile Processing Technician to join our dental clinical team. This position is responsible for the decontamination, preparation, sterilization, storage, and distribution of surgical and dental instruments and medical equipment. The ideal candidate is committed to maintaining the highest standards of infection prevention, patient safety, and quality assurance while ensuring instruments are properly processed and available for clinical use.

Decontaminate, inspect, assemble, package, sterilize, and distribute dental and surgical instruments and supplies.

Operate sterilization equipment and ensure all sterilization processes comply with established protocols and regulatory standards.

Perform quality assurance testing and maintain accurate sterilization and equipment records.

Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and completeness before sterilization and clinical use.

Identify damaged or malfunctioning instruments and coordinate repairs or replacements.

Utilize OneSource and other reference materials to correctly assemble instrument trays and surgical sets.

Maintain inventory and asset management of surgical instruments and equipment.

Follow infection prevention protocols and safety guidelines established by OSHA, CDC, AAMI, AORN, The Joint Commission, and Department of Health standards.

Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant sterile processing environment.

Communicate effectively with clinical staff to ensure instruments and supplies are available when needed.

Report equipment issues promptly to the Clinical Director or Materials Manager.

Participate in continuing education, competency assessments, and departmental quality improvement initiatives.

Follow Standard Precautions, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), hand hygiene, and appropriate disposal of biohazardous materials.

High school diploma or GED.

Knowledge of sterile processing, infection control, and instrument handling procedures.

Ability to safely operate sterilization and decontamination equipment.

Ability to lift and transport instrument trays and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.

Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Associate's or Bachelor's degree.

Two to three years of sterile processing experience in a dental office, surgical center, hospital, or higher education dental environment.

Experience using OneSource or similar instrument tracking systems.

Knowledge of sterilization procedures, quality assurance, and infection prevention standards.

Ability to distinguish between equipment malfunction and operator error.

Experience cleaning, inspecting, assembling, and packaging surgical and dental instruments.

Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

Strong teamwork and communication abilities.

Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment while maintaining accuracy.

Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and use hands throughout the workday.

Ability to lift and move equipment and instrument trays up to 25 pounds.

Ability to perform repetitive cleaning, washing, lifting, and instrument processing tasks.

Visual ability to inspect instruments for cleanliness and functionality.
This position is primarily performed in a dental clinical and sterile processing environment. Candidates must be comfortable working around medical equipment, cleaning chemicals, and sterilization systems while maintaining strict infection control and safety standards.
