The Quality Engineer will play a critical role in ensuring customer satisfaction by driving quality initiatives, resolving customer concerns, and supporting continuous improvement efforts throughout the manufacturing process. This position requires someone with strong customer-facing experience who can successfully build relationships with OEM and Tier 1 customers while effectively managing quality expectations.
The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem solver with a solid understanding of automotive quality systems and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service.
- Serve as the primary quality contact for customers, addressing concerns and ensuring timely resolution of quality issues.
- Lead customer complaint investigations using structured problem-solving methodologies.
- Manage customer quality requirements and ensure compliance with OEM standards.
- Coordinate containment activities and corrective actions related to customer concerns.
- Facilitate root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Lead and support APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, and other quality system activities.
- Monitor key quality metrics and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participate in internal, customer, and third-party audits.
- Collaborate closely with manufacturing, engineering, suppliers, and customer teams to improve product quality and process performance.
- Support launch activities and ensure successful quality readiness for new programs.
- Analyze quality data and present findings to leadership and customers.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or related field.
- 3+ years of Quality Engineering experience within automotive manufacturing.
- Strong customer-facing experience supporting OEMs or Tier 1 automotive customers.
- Experience leading customer issue resolution and corrective action activities.
- Working knowledge of:
- IATF 16949
- Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, Control Plans)
- Root Cause Analysis methodologies (8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, etc.)
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Experience with customer portals and OEM-specific requirements.
- CQE certification or similar quality certification.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience in high-volume automotive production environments.
- Customer-focused mindset with the ability to confidently interact with customers at all levels.
- Strong sense of ownership and urgency when addressing quality concerns.
