Overview
Join our dynamic Public Works team as a Public Works Supervisor, where you will lead and coordinate essential infrastructure maintenance, construction projects, and operational activities within the community. This role offers an exciting opportunity to oversee a diverse range of public works functions, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality services that enhance residents' quality of life. Responsibilities
- Plans, directs and supervises the daily operations of City Maintenance employees engaged in Water, Streets, Cemetery and Grounds and Facilities Maintenance
- Schedules, assigns, inspects, and evaluates work
- Instructs and trains in correct methods and procedures
- Conducts regular inspections of the City’s streets, parks, and rights-of-way
- Coordinates activities with other departments
- Plans and coordinates with City and County entities for Emergency Management and Preparedness
- Develops and implements work schedules, methods, practices, policies and procedures to enhance the operation of the department
- Ensures employees comply with City and Departmental policies, procedures, and safety rules
- Generates, maintains and submits appropriate documentation and reports for the efficiency and compliance of the department, including:
Inventories
Maintenance Logs: equipment, vehicles, tools
Schedules for tasks and projects
Work Order Completions
Project Progress
Monthly reports to Council
- Assists with the preparation of and adherence to the annual budget for the department.
Experience
- Proven experience in construction site management or public works operations with a strong understanding of heavy equipment operation and maintenance.
- Hands-on skills in rigging, welding, mechanical repairs, and the use of hand tools and power tools.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams effectively while ensuring safety compliance on busy construction or maintenance sites.
- Prior experience working with construction or municipal infrastructure projects is highly desirable.
Requirements:
- Must have valid Drivers License
- MUST have a Team Mentality
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Ideal Candidate would have 3-5 years experience in the following areas:
Backhoe/Heavy Equipment Experience
Plumbing Maintenance and Repair
Electrical Maintenance and Repair
Mechanical Maintenance and Repair
Ability to read plans and technical specifications
Small Engine Repair
Organizational Skills
Must have Water Operator Certification or be able to obtain (at the City’s expense) within 1 year
Background Check is required

Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
