Job Title: Sales Engineer
Location: Atlantic- Travel 40% – CT, DE, MA, MD, ME, NC, NH, NJ, NY, PA, RI, SC, VA, VT

Reports To: VP of Sales and Marketing
The Sales Engineer provides technical and commercial representation to customers in various industries within an assigned territory. This position will focus on selling combustion equipment to meet application requirements in industrial processes. With the support of the Application Engineering staff, the Sales Engineer will coordinate the quotation and sale of more complex combustion systems as well. This position will develop relationships with customers based upon strong technical prowess, consultative behavior, a natural competitive drive, and an enthusiasm to help customers. The Sales Engineer will utilize a foundation of knowledge in heat transfer, chemistry, fluid dynamics, manufacturing processes, and controls, to develop and service customer accounts against a designated quota.
Responsibilities:
- Works to match company products and capabilities to customer application needs to support company channel managers, sales personnel, manufacturer’s representatives, and customers.
- Act as a commercial liaison to customers to provide consultation on the selection and usage of equipment utilizing a fundamental understanding of heat transfer, combustion chemistry, controls, and fluid dynamics.
- Manage assigned customer accounts for commercial needs and issues including quotation, order, credit terms, returns and warranty, and collections of invoices.
- Writes proposals for standard equipment and communicates with customers by phone, email, and in-person.
- Works cooperatively with Applications Engineer to create proposals for more complex systems, field service, and engineering services.
- Work towards the achievement of the company vision statement.
- Be familiar and follow the company’s Quality Management System policy as it relates to your area of work.
- Participates in trade shows, company training events, customer training events, and other industry events.
- Regular travel to customer locations to sell product and evaluate product suitability that may involve exposure to heat, noise, and large industrial equipment.
- Shares knowledge with peers and works to develop technical and commercial excellence across the organization.
- Ensures effective communications and relationships between customers and project team members and manages projects and timelines.
- Articulates technology and product positioning to both technical and business users at customers.
- Must be willing and able to travel ~40%.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Knowledge of thermal sciences, combustion chemistry, fluid dynamics, controls, and mechanical systems.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience.
- Detail oriented with strong interpersonal skills.
- Excellent written and verbal presentation skills.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently.
- Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office products.
- Ability to interact effectively with all departments and levels of the organization with a strong focus in a team-based work environment.
- Adequate mathematical skills for calculation of equipment sizing equations.
- Excellent communication skills to explain technical specifics to peers and customers.
- Time-management skills for meeting deadlines.
Experience / Education:
- 4-year degree in Engineering preferred (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Chemical, etc.)
- Experience traveling in, and managing, an outside sales territory
- Industry experience a plus
- Must be organized with the ability to focus on priority projects and tasks
- Excellent communications skills

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand: walk; use hand to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Ability to walk long distances at customer sites and trade shows which may involve exposure to heat, noise, and large industrial equipment, climb ladders and stairs, stoop, balance, bend, and kneel. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift products and supplies, up to 50 lbs.
