Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled RN Clinical Coordinator specializing in Bariatric Surgery to lead and coordinate patient care initiatives within our surgical services. This role offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced nursing professional to oversee clinical operations, ensure compliance with healthcare standards, and support patient-centered outcomes in a dynamic healthcare environment.
Duties
- Coordinate preoperative and postoperative care for bariatric surgery patients, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols and best practices.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including surgeons, dietitians, and behavioral health specialists to develop comprehensive care plans.
- Supervise nursing staff involved in bariatric procedures, providing leadership, mentorship, and performance evaluations.
- Monitor patient progress through assessments of vital signs, medical documentation, and physiological evaluations; adjust care plans as needed.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, state healthcare regulations, HIPAA privacy standards, and safety protocols related to bariatric patient care.
- Facilitate patient education on surgical procedures, lifestyle modifications, and nutritional guidelines to promote successful outcomes.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner for accurate documentation and communication across care teams.
Qualifications
- Coordinates clinical care of the bariatric surgery patient. Develop and delivers education to internal and external customers. Performs daily administrative oversight of the program. Monitors quality data collection, analysis and reporting process and identifies areas for improvement. Provides communication between team members and patients. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System. Other Information
- Required: Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Valid Ohio RN licensure. American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Certified Bariatric Nurse (ASMBS CBN) or obtains within 12 months of hire.
- Two years recent clinical experience with bariatric population in a medical/surgical setting or ambulatory surgery setting.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to handle information with strict confidentiality.
- Ability to initiate projects and carry out day-to-day operations with a minimum amount of supervision.
- Demonstrates excellent interpersonal, verbal/written communication, delegation, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrates strong analytical, data management, and computer skills.
- Demonstrates strong leadership, organizational, and time management skills. Preferred: Master’s Degree. Prior Bariatric Surgery Coordinator experience. Knowledge of EPIC functionality.
