Position Overview
Fairfield Community Development Corporation is seeking a Housing Director to lead FCDC’s housing evaluation, pre-development, and housing program activities in the Fairfield neighborhood and greater Huntington community.
The Housing Director will help identify housing needs and development opportunities, coordinate property and neighborhood evaluation activities, support planning for affordable and workforce housing, and work with residents, property owners, community partners, consultants, and public agencies to advance FCDC’s housing goals.
This position will serve as FCDC’s primary staff lead for housing initiatives and will work closely with the Executive Director to develop programs, coordinate projects, maintain documentation, support grant-funded activities, and help move housing opportunities from evaluation and planning toward future rehabilitation and development.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead FCDC’s housing evaluation, assessment, and pre-development activities.
- Coordinate evaluation of properties and housing conditions to identify future rehabilitation and development opportunities.
- Support planning for affordable, workforce, and energy-efficient housing.
- Develop and coordinate housing programs, technical assistance, community education, and outreach.
- Build relationships with residents, homeowners, landlords, property owners, developers, and community stakeholders.
- Coordinate with public agencies, nonprofit organizations, consultants, contractors, funders, and other housing and community development partners.
- Identify resources and opportunities that can support housing rehabilitation, redevelopment, and neighborhood investment.
- Maintain housing and project data, records, reports, and supporting documentation.
- Monitor project activities, timelines, deliverables, and partner responsibilities.
- Assist with grant administration, reporting, budgets, funding requests, and program documentation.
- Support development and implementation of FCDC’s broader housing and community development strategy.
- Attend community meetings, trainings, partner meetings, and other housing-related activities.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in community development, housing, planning, public administration, real estate, construction management, nonprofit management, or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent combinations of education and relevant professional experience may be considered.
- Three or more years of experience in housing, community development, neighborhood revitalization, property development, planning, program administration, construction, or a related field preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, project management, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work effectively with residents, property owners, community organizations, public agencies, consultants, contractors, and other partners.
- Experience with affordable housing, housing rehabilitation, energy efficiency, grants, publicly funded projects, or nonprofit/community development organizations preferred.
- Strong written communication and documentation skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 or comparable office productivity tools.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, manage multiple priorities, and follow projects through to completion.
Work and Travel Requirements
This position includes a combination of office, community, meeting, and field-based work.
Local travel throughout Huntington, Cabell County, and surrounding areas will be required for property visits, meetings, and project activities.
Some evening or weekend meetings and community events may be required.
A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are preferred.
