About the Opportunity: The Cloud Engineer will support the modernization and enhancement of mission-critical web applications for the Air Force Security Assistance and Cooperation Directorate (AFSAC). This role focuses on cloud readiness, application modernization, PHP development, and preparing legacy systems for future cloud migration while supporting existing on-premises environments. The position is on site and offers the opportunity to work on high-visibility systems that directly support Air Force missions.
Key Responsibilities:

Prepare modernized applications for future containerization and cloud deployment initiatives as directed.

Develop, maintain, test, and support PHP-based web applications.

Review, analyze, and improve existing source code to enhance functionality, maintainability, and security.

Support cloud modernization efforts including migration to Bootstrap 5 and CodeIgniter 4 frameworks.

Troubleshoot and resolve application defects, performance issues, and integration challenges.

Create and maintain technical documentation related to application development and modernization activities.

Participate in code reviews and collaborate with team members to maintain coding standards and best practices.

Coordinate with developers, system administrators, and cybersecurity personnel to support secure application delivery.

Assist with software testing, deployment activities, and application lifecycle management.

Support future cloud migration activities as modernization efforts progress.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field preferred.

Must possess a current DoD IAM Level I certification (e.g., Security+, Cloud +, CND)

Candidates must be U.S. Citizens and can obtain a favorable National Agency Check Investigation (NACI) clearance.

Experience developing and maintaining PHP web applications.

Experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and responsive web design technologies.

Experience working with Bootstrap or similar front-end frameworks.

Experience working with MVC frameworks (e.g., CodeIgniter, Laravel, etc.)

Experience using Git or other version control systems.

Understanding of software development lifecycle methodologies and application modernization practices.

Ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve software defects.
Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with the AFSAC Online (AOL) environment

Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) information systems and environments

Prior experience migrating on-prem applications to cloud environments
