We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support to individuals in need of assistance with daily living activities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of patient care, particularly in environments such as group homes, assisted living facilities, or home health settings. This role requires a commitment to maintaining the dignity and comfort of clients while ensuring their safety and well-being.
Duties
- Assist clients with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the quality of life for clients.
- Monitor and document changes in clients’ physical and emotional conditions through patient observation.
- Support individuals with dementia care and those on the autism spectrum by employing appropriate communication techniques and behavioral strategies.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect client confidentiality and privacy.
- Perform heavy lifting as required to assist clients with mobility or transfers.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including nurses, to implement care plans effectively.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients by following established health and safety protocols.
Skills
- Experience in group home settings or assisted living facilities is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining client confidentiality.
- Familiarity with dementia care techniques and strategies for working with individuals with autism.
- Strong patient observation skills to recognize changes in health status or behavior.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and effectively when assisting clients.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with clients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to help others improve their quality of life.
