INSTRUCTIONAL COACH
REPORTS TO: Principal / Assistant Principal
OBJECTIVE: To increase student achievement by supporting and improving teacher effectiveness.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Holds a Valid Georgia Certification at the T-5 level or higher.

Has a minimum of 5 years teaching experience in a classroom setting.

Possess leadership and/or professional development experience at the school or system level.
-
Ability to relate well to students, parents, and co-workers.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Demonstrate proficiency with current technology to include: My Big Campus, Infinite Campus, Safari Montage, ActivInspire/ ActiVotes / Expressions, portable technology such as tables & iPad.

Demonstrate understanding of Standards-based grading.

Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.

Demonstrate ability to attend to details and to efficiently multi-task.

Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs.

Demonstrate knowledge of Georgia Performance Standards and Georgia Performance Standards Common Core Standards.

Demonstrate knowledge of research-based instructional strategies.
-
Demonstrate ability to model and assist teachers in implementing instructional strategies in the designated content area.

Demonstrate knowledge of available instructional interventions and the ability to supervise and evaluate their effective implementation.

Demonstrate ability to interpret and implement federal laws, state rules, and local policies.

Demonstrate an ability to collect, analyze, and interpret qualitative and quantitative data.

Demonstrate professional interpersonal skills with school staff, central office staff, parents/guardians, students, and community.

Demonstrate ability to work with limited supervision.

Demonstrate an excellent attendance record.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
-
Supports teachers in increasing the use of instructional technology to access the core curriculum as an essential instructional tool.

Perform classroom modeling and observations.
-
Provide professional learning in technology and curriculum.
-
Serve as teacher leader for technology, BEST and Professional Learning.
-
Work cooperatively with all staff, including STA, technology specialist and media specialist.
-
Supports Georgia Standards of Excellence implementation and aids in the training of the appropriate and effective use of research-based instructional strategies and building background knowledge.
-
Provides support and structure for implementation and sharing of best practices through the school-level Professional Learning Communities.
-
Maintains accurate and current information of program implementation and prepares reports as requested.
-
Facilitates effective instructional progress monitoring, data collection and analysis utilizing results to impact academic achievement.

Attend in and out of county professional learning opportunities that support the role of instructional facilitator.
-
Works cooperatively with school leaders, teachers, parents/guardians, and students to effectively implement program activities.
-
Communicates effectively the district’s purpose to align teaching practices to learning.
-
Focuses on relationships among students, teachers, and other stakeholders.
-
Perform other assigned duties that are appropriate for this position.
