Position Summary
Northeast Medical Equipment Services (NEMES) is seeking an experienced and motivated Lead Field Service & Installation Technician to join our growing team. This position is responsible for leading and supporting the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and inspection of medical and non-medical equipment at hospitals, surgical centers and medical offices throughout the tri-state area.
Working with limited supervision, the Lead Technician serves as a technical resource for fellow technicians while building and maintaining strong customer relationships. The role requires collaboration with healthcare professionals, facility personnel, internal service and administrative teams, and sales representatives from affiliated companies to ensure exceptional customer service and operational excellence.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience (Meet one of the following):
· High School Diploma/GED AND (5) years experiencein medical equipment service, surgical equipment, industrial field service, biomedical equipment, or closely related technical fields.
· Associate’s degree in applied science AND (3) or more years of related experience in Biomedical engineering or hospital environment
Technical & Core Competencies:
· Strong mechanical aptitude, intermediate electronical knowledge, and familiarity with video, audio, and data communication systems.
· Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues using hand tools and diagnostic equipment (e.g., multimeters).
· Deep understanding of healthcare or surgical equipment repair.
· General computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office software
Physical & Logistics Requirements:
· Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and access to a reliable personal vehicle (mini-van, enclosed truck, or SUV preferred) for field travel.
· Ability to lift and move heavy equipment and stand for extended periods
Preferred Qualifications:
· Background in Electrical and/or Biomedical Engineering.
· Experience with surgical lights, booms, surgical tables, operating room equipment, SPD equipment or related medical technologies is a plus
· Strong knowledge of healthcare regulatory standards (OSHA, FDA, and The Joint
Commission).
· Military technical training is a strong plus.
