About Alpha Nodus
Alpha Nodus builds healthcare AI. Our platform, Gravity, automates the patient journey for radiology and diagnostic imaging centers: the scheduling, insurance verification, and document processing that staff otherwise do by hand.
Position Summary
This is a six-month engineering internship that ends in a full-time offer if it goes well. It isn't a summer project or a shadowing program. You'll ship code to production in your first few weeks and keep shipping for six months, on the same stack and in the same review process as everyone else.
Our stack is TypeScript on AWS serverless with PostgreSQL. We build with Claude Code every day, and we're looking for someone who already uses it well and wants to get better at it.
Responsibilities
- Build and ship features across the Gravity platform in TypeScript, running on AWS serverless infrastructure such as Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, EventBridge, S3, and Step Functions.
- Design and query PostgreSQL, including schema changes, migrations, and queries that hold up against real production data volume.
- Build and integrate APIs, including connections to the third-party healthcare systems our customers already run.
- Use Claude Code as a primary development tool: scoping work for it, reviewing what it produces, catching what it gets wrong, and knowing when writing it yourself is faster.
- Debug production issues by reading logs, tracing requests across services, and reproducing problems from a customer report.
- Write tests and take part in code review, both giving and receiving.
- Talk directly with product and customer success to understand what imaging center staff actually need before building it.
- Write things down: design notes, runbooks, and pull request descriptions someone else can follow six months later.
How We Work
We're an AI company, and we build with AI. Claude Code is a standard part of how our engineers work, not a pilot running on the side. We expect you to use it hard.
We also expect you to know where it breaks. The engineers who do well here can scope a task for Claude Code, read what comes back with real skepticism, catch the plausible-looking mistake before review does, and recognize when it's faster to just write the thing. Using AI well is a skill we screen for, and it's the reason a six-month intern here ships production work rather than a sandboxed side project.
Everything you build reaches imaging centers with real patients on the schedule. Your code runs in production during your internship, and your name is on the pull request when it does.
Qualifications
- BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Working proficiency in TypeScript or JavaScript.
- Solid understanding of cloud and web fundamentals: HTTP, REST, authentication, asynchronous processing, and how a request actually travels through a distributed system.
- SQL experience, PostgreSQL preferred.
- Hands-on experience with Claude Code, with specific examples you can walk us through.
- Clear written and verbal communication. You'll be explaining tradeoffs to engineers and explaining status to people who aren't engineers.
- Able to commit to the full six months, in our Sunrise, FL office.
Preferred Qualifications
- Projects, open source contributions, or anything shipped that real people used.
- Direct AWS experience, particularly Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, and CloudWatch.
- Infrastructure as code: CDK, SAM, Terraform, or Serverless Framework.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Git-based workflows.
- A prior internship or co-op.
- Exposure to healthcare data, HIPAA, or another regulated environment.
Who Tends to Do Well Here
- You're curious by default. When something works and you don't know why, that bothers you enough to go find out.
- You use AI aggressively and check its work. You've been burned by a confident wrong answer and you changed how you work because of it.
- You're comfortable not knowing. Most of this codebase and all of this industry will be new to you, and the fastest engineers here are the ones who ask early instead of stalling quietly.
- You communicate without being asked. A short message saying you're stuck is worth more to us than three days of silence followed by a finished feature.
- You finish things. Shipping something small and complete beats a large branch that never merges.
Our Hiring Process
- An AI screening round
- A technical conversation with one of our engineers
- A working session at our Sunrise office, pairing with the team on a real problem using Claude Code
