Summary:
The Bus Driver, Lead Magnet Ramp operates a school bus to transport students in a safe and timely manner. The Bus Driver, Lead Magnet Ramp will receive general supervision from the Field Operations Supervisor and Operations Manager. The Bus Driver, Lead Magnet Ramp is responsible for driving a bus and monitoring students and co-workers at Magnet bus ramps as well as other Magnet transportation areas. The Bus Driver, Lead Magnet Ramp accounts for all students at the Magnet Ramp and communicates to the students instructions at bus assignment. The Bus Driver, Lead Magnet Ramp must have the ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively.

Responsibilities:
- Follows a designated route and an established time schedule while picking up students and dropping them off at specific locations on a printed route.
- Observes all state, city, and local traffic laws and regulations, uses all signals, and ensures that all traffic is stopped before loading and unloading students.
- Instructs students on proper safety methods to board and depart from the bus and see that these instructions are carefully observed.
- Maintains order on the bus at all times and stops any disruptive behavior in accordance with district policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Performs a pre-trip inspection of bus before starting the run in the morning and in the afternoon to detect any mechanical or other malfunction which would prevent safe delivery of the students.
- Performs a post-trip inspection and walkthrough of the bus after the morning and afternoon runs are complete.
- Supervises student behavior on the bus and at the Magnet ramp.
- Works with school administrator to implement behavior modification when needed.
- Communicates effectively with students, parents, and school personnel.
- Understands and carries out oral and written directions.
- Assures bus meets regular maintenance schedules. Reports defects or problems with vehicle to shop supervisor.
- Completes various forms and records, including updated route sheets, time sheets, field trip forms, incident reports, and accident reports. Collects and verifies Magnet drivers FTE.
- Maintains bus in a safe, clean, and orderly condition. May wash bus occasionally.
- Performs any other duties as assigned.

Experience: Two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience in school bus driving.
Certificates/Licenses/Registrations: Possession of a valid State of Florida Class B Commercial Bus Driver’s License with Passenger and School Bus endorsements. Meet district Safe Driver Plan requirements. Must pass an annual physical examination, drug and alcohol test.
Language Skills: Reads and interprets documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, and procedure manuals. Writes routine reports and correspondence. Speaks effectively before groups of individuals.
Mathematical Skills: Adds and subtracts two-digit numbers and multiplies and divides with 10s and 100s. Performs these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability: Applies common sense understanding to carry out simple instructions. Deals with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
Computer Skills: Minimal computer skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Physical Activities: Sitting, standing, walking, stooping, climbing, balancing, talking, hearing, depth perception, and field of vision.
Lifting Demands: Up to 55 pounds.
Reaching Activities: Both dominant and non-dominant hand; overhead.
Environmental Conditions: Noise Intensity: 4, loud; extreme cold and extreme heat.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Physical mobility and stamina to participate in activities that may be strenuous.
