An OCCI, Inc. Project Engineer is responsible for coordination of on-site construction activities, material purchases and working with the Project Manager and Superintendent to deliver a project within budget and schedule. A successful individual has strong team-building skills and feels comfortable working with a wide variety of people from field crew members to Client representative onsite. The ability to problem solve while under pressure, multi-task, negotiate and communicate effectively is essential.
Project Management Responsibilities:
- Develops work methods and spearheads preparatory meetings with Clients to ensure all operations are conducted in alignment with Company procedures and best-practices.
- Communicates work methods to Superintendent and field crew on site.
- Evaluates work plans and brainstorms effective value-engineering proposals and change orders with project manager.
- Review contract and specifications to ensure compliance with policies, regulations, laws and permits.
- Assists in awarding and drafting of subcontracts and coordinates subcontractor work on-site with Superintendent.
- Updates project schedule with Project Manager
- Reviews, updates and approves invoices and pay estimates with Project Manager.
Technical Competencies
- Ensures project site and documentation is properly maintained per regulatory requirements
- Responsible for drafting and submitting Project RFI’s and Submittals.
- Makes adjustments and problem–solves work methods on-site as needed to maintain project schedule.
- Maintains weekly labor progress reports.
Team Work / Leadership
- Serves as Company Project Management Representative on-site with Clients, subcontractors and regulatory officials, etc.
- Performs Quality Control 3-phase inspection process on work product with crew and Foreman
- Supervises / Trains new engineers and interns
- Collaborates with Engineering Team on work plans and estimates
Technology Knowledge
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Proficient in Autocad
- Familiar with P6 scheduling, ability to work in P6 a plus
- Experience with construction software, specifically Viewpoint a plus
- Experience with bidding software, specifically Hard Dollar, a plus
Qualifications/Education:
- 2-3 years of construction experience
- Willingness to Travel
- BS in Engineering, Civil preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Ability to thrive in a changing environment
- Desire to learn
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work on active construction site
