Hostler Driver - Yard Operations– Full-Time
Location: Milwaukee, WI 53221
Schedule: Monday–Saturday | 9:00am-6:00pm
The Hostler – Yard Operations position is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of trailers within the yard and between dock doors in a fast-paced cross dock environment. This role supports yard operations by ensuring trailers are properly positioned to maintain continuous freight flow and operational efficiency.
The Hostler plays a critical role in maintaining yard organization, supporting dock operations, and ensuring all trailer movements are completed in accordance with Aspire XDock SOPs and customer expectations. Responsibilities include coordinating trailer moves, maintaining accurate records, and operating yard equipment safely in a time sensitive environment.
Work Hours Expectations
This role operates in a fast-paced, time sensitive cross dock and logistics environment where schedules are driven by freight volume and customer demand. Employees can expect a typical work schedule of Monday through Saturday, with hours varying based on business needs.
Shifts may extend up to 12 hours, particularly during peak volume periods. Flexibility to work extended hours, weekends, and variable start times is required.
Pay & Benefits
- $25/hour starting pay
- 40–50 hours per week
- Overtime pay after 40 hours
Eligible for benefits after 60 days of employment, including:

Key Responsibilities
- Move trailers to and from dock doors and throughout the yard safely and efficiently
- Perform trailer movements, including hooking, transporting, and staging trailers
- Coordinate trailer movement with yard control, dock, and operations teams
- Document all trailer moves using the yard management system (YMS)
- Perform pre- and post-trip inspections on yard equipment and trailers
- Follow all yard safety procedures and protocols
- Maintain awareness of yard conditions and report any safety concerns
- Work in an outdoor yard environment, including varying weather conditions
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Follow all OSHA safety standards and company policies
Preferred Skills
- CDL Class A preferred (not required)
- Familiarity with yard management systems or similar tracking tools
- Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Basic communication and coordination skills
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Valid driver’s license required
- Previous hostler experience preferred
- Ability to operate yard equipment safely and efficiently
- Ability to work in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions
- Ability to perform essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodations
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screen
