Job Summary and Position Objective: This position is responsible for the professional installation, replacement, and repair of carpet flooring in occupied and vacant multifamily units and other customer locations. This position performs all aspects of carpet installation, including jobsite preparation, removal of existing flooring, measuring and cutting materials, installation, seaming, stretching, finishing, and cleanup. The House Installer is expected to complete installations efficiently and accurately while maintaining Southeast Floors' standards for quality, safety, professionalism, and customer service.
Essential Functions:
- Performs professional carpet installations, replacements, repairs, and restretches in accordance with work orders, manufacturer guidelines, and company quality standards.
- Measures, cuts, seams, stretches, secures, and finishes carpet and related materials, including padding, tack strip, transitions, and thresholds.
- Removes existing flooring as needed and prepares installation areas to ensure surfaces are ready for new carpet.
- Reviews assigned work orders and verifies materials, quantities, jobsite conditions, and installation requirements before beginning work.
- Identifies and communicates material shortages, damaged products, subfloor concerns, or other jobsite conditions that may impact completion or quality.
- Safely loads, unloads, transports, and handles flooring materials, tools, and equipment between the branch and assigned jobsites.
- Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work area and protects customer property throughout the installation process.
- Inspects completed installations for workmanship and ensures the jobsite is clean and ready for the customer upon completion.
- Communicates professionally with customers, property staff, residents, coworkers, and management while representing Southeast Floors.
- Properly uses and maintains carpet installation tools, equipment, and company vehicles.
- Follows all company safety policies, procedures, and jobsite requirements.
- Performs other flooring installation and job-related duties as assigned.
Required Competencies/Skills:
Has a strong understanding of the following:
- Flooring installation is required
- Time management skills including but not limited to prioritizing, scheduling, and planning
- Great customer service skills needed for visits to each property
- Must work well with others
- Compliance with all safety policies and procedures
- Attention to detail and the ability to multitask safely and efficiently
- The ability to communicate clearly and professionally at all times
- Has a clean driving record and a valid Florida driver’s license
Preferred Competencies/Skills:
- Fluent in English and Spanish is preferred
Required Experience:
- Installation/Flooring/Maintenance aptitude is required
Physical Requirements:
- Be able to stand or walk for up 8+ hours per shift
- Must be able to use stairs on a daily basis without assistance
- Flexible and long work hours sometimes required
- Be able to lift, push, and pull items weighing up to 80 lbs
- Must be able to bend, squat, twist, and reach for supplies
Expected Hours of Work: 40 hours/week
- 8:00am – 5:00pm Monday through Thursday
