Position Overview
Scouting America Erie Shores Council is seeking a dynamic and customer-focused Retail Shop Manager to oversee the daily operations of our Scout Shop. This position is responsible for driving sales performance, managing inventory, maintaining visual merchandising standards, and delivering an exceptional customer experience. The Retail Shop Manager will also build and maintain strong relationships with local Scouting units, council staff, volunteers, and camp personnel.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure an outstanding customer experience through excellent service and an attractive, well-organized store environment.
- Manage sales promotions, inventory control, merchandising displays, stock replenishment, and physical inventory processes to achieve sales and profitability goals.
- Develop and implement purchasing plans to maintain appropriate inventory levels and support sales objectives.
- Oversee daily store operations, including cash handling, sales reporting, and administrative functions.
- Prepare and submit required reports and documentation accurately and on time.
- Create and distribute marketing materials to promote merchandise through in-store displays, email communications, and social media platforms.
- Assist customers with merchandise selection and product recommendations.
- Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently.
- Lead and coordinate the annual physical inventory count.
- Demonstrate strong organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills while effectively managing multiple priorities.

- Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with retail operations, inventory management, and point-of-sale systems.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
- Basic bookkeeping and recordkeeping knowledge.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow job-related documents and procedures.
- Basic math and cash-handling skills.
- Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education is a plus.
- Minimum of two years of retail management or retail supervisory experience.
- Ability to lift and move merchandise as needed.
- Ability to work Saturdays and some evenings.

Schedule
- Full-time

Compensation: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour plus benefits
