Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Collaborative Pianist to join our community choral ensemble. In this role, you will serve as a key musical partner, providing live piano accompaniment for rehearsals, performances, and special events. The Collaborative Pianist works with the Choir Director to support the musical growth of the choir and enhance performances through
excellent musicianship, professionalism and preparation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide piano accompaniment for weekly choir rehearsals.
- Accompany the choir during scheduled concerts and special events.
- Collaborate with the choir director in preparing and interpreting choral music.
- Attend and participate in planning meetings and board meetings as requested.
- Prepare music independently prior to rehearsals and performances.
- Accompany soloists, small ensembles, and guest musicians as needed.
- Assist with warm-ups and rehearsal support, e.g., sectionals, under the direction of the choir director.
- Maintain flexibility to accommodate seasonal programs and other special events as scheduled.
- Communicate promptly regarding scheduling, music needs, and availability.
- Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and positive attitude in working with choir director, board members, choir members, and other musicians or volunteers who are involved with the choir.
Qualifications
- Advanced piano proficiency with strong sight-reading skills.
- Play/accompany at an Advanced High School/Beginning College literature of various genres (classical, choral, pop, broadway, folk, art song, jazz).
- Experience accompanying choral ensembles preferred.
- Ability to follow a conductor and adapt to varying rehearsal and performance situations.
- Knowledge of sacred, classical, traditional, and contemporary choral repertoire preferred.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.

- Degree in music or equivalent training and experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit and perform at the piano for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift and transport music materials/equipment weighing up to 20 lbs.
Schedule
- One weekly evening choir rehearsal (currently Monday evening 7-8:30 pm)
- Additional rehearsals as scheduled prior to scheduled concerts in the spring (May) and winter (December) and rehearsals for scheduled special events.
Compensation
- Compensation is commensurate with experience, qualifications, and expected commitment.
