The Crescent Academy is growing and seeking a knowledgeable, engaging, and mission-driven Islamic Studies, Quran & Arabic Teacher to serve students in our Middle School program.
The successful candidate will help students build a lasting relationship with Allah, develop confidence in reading and understanding the Quran, strengthen Arabic-language skills, and apply Islamic teachings through good character, thoughtful choices, and service to others.
The teacher will prepare and deliver lessons aligned with the Academy's approved Islamic Education curriculum, maintain a safe and positive learning environment, assess student growth, and communicate regularly with families and school leadership. Full-time and part-time opportunities are available.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Planning & Instruction
- Develop and deliver well-organized, age-appropriate lessons in Islamic Studies, Quran, and Arabic using the Academy's approved curriculum, learning standards, and instructional resources.
- Prepare lesson plans, instructional materials, assignments, projects, and assessments that reflect clear learning objectives and meet the needs of students with varying levels of prior knowledge.
- Use engaging instructional methods, including discussion, modeling, guided practice, memorization, collaborative learning, projects, technology, and real-life application.
- Differentiate instruction and provide additional support or enrichment so that students can make meaningful academic and spiritual progress.
Quran Education
- Teach correct Quran recitation, pronunciation, and Tajweed according to the teacher's qualifications and the Academy's approved instructional approach.
- Guide students in memorization, revision, fluency, and respectful engagement with the Quran while establishing realistic and measurable learning goals.
- Help students understand selected vocabulary, themes, meanings, and practical lessons from the Quran at an age-appropriate level.
- Track individual student progress in recitation and memorization and provide timely feedback, intervention, and encouragement.
Arabic Language Instruction
- Teach Arabic reading, writing, vocabulary, grammar, listening, and speaking skills at developmentally appropriate levels.
- Build students' confidence using Arabic through structured practice, conversation, reading comprehension, writing, and connection to Quranic vocabulary.
- Assess student proficiency and adjust instruction to support beginners as well as students with stronger Arabic-language backgrounds.
Islamic Studies & Character Development
- Teach age-appropriate Islamic Studies topics, including Aqeedah, Seerah, Fiqh, Hadith, worship, Islamic history, manners, ethics, and contemporary application, consistent with the Academy's approved curriculum.
- Connect Islamic knowledge to daily conduct, personal responsibility, honesty, compassion, respect, service, and positive citizenship.
- Model Islamic adab and professional conduct and help create a classroom culture grounded in mercy, dignity, accountability, and mutual respect.
- Support schoolwide Islamic programming, assemblies, salah, Ramadan activities, service projects, and other faith-centered learning experiences as assigned.
Classroom Environment & Student Support
- Create and maintain a safe, orderly, inclusive, and encouraging classroom environment that supports intellectual, spiritual, emotional, and social growth.
- Establish clear classroom expectations and use constructive, age-appropriate, and consistent classroom-management practices.
- Recognize individual student needs, collaborate with school leadership and colleagues, and implement appropriate academic or behavioral supports.
- Maintain professional boundaries, protect student confidentiality, and promote the safety and well-being of every child.
Assessment, Records & Family Communication
- Maintain accurate attendance, grades, memorization records, assessment results, lesson documentation, and student progress information.
- Provide timely student feedback, progress reports, report-card information, and other required documentation.
- Communicate regularly and professionally with parents or guardians regarding student progress, strengths, concerns, expectations, and opportunities for support at home.
- Participate in parent conferences, staff meetings, professional-development activities, school events, and collaborative planning.
Enrichment & School Community
- Plan meaningful projects, competitions, presentations, field trips, guest-speaker opportunities, and other enrichment activities that deepen student learning.
- Collaborate with other teachers to reinforce Islamic character and connect Islamic Studies, Quran, and Arabic learning across the school program.
- Contribute positively to the broader Academy community and support school initiatives beyond the classroom when reasonably assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated knowledge of Islam, Quran, and Arabic sufficient to teach the assigned grade levels accurately and confidently.
- One or more recognized qualifications appropriate to the role, such as Hafiz/Hafiza certification, formal Islamic Studies education, Alim/Alimah or Imam training, Quran/Tajweed certification, an Arabic-language credential, or comparable verified preparation.
- Ability to recite the Quran correctly and teach foundational Tajweed, memorization, and revision skills within the scope of the candidate's training.
- Ability to teach Islamic beliefs, practices, character, history, and daily application in a clear, age-appropriate, and constructive manner.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English with students, families, colleagues, and school leadership.
- Commitment to the mission, values, policies, curriculum, and professional expectations of The Crescent Academy.
- Ability to successfully complete all applicable background checks, clearances, and employment requirements for work in a school setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Islamic Studies, Arabic, Quranic Studies, or a related field.
- Prior teaching experience in an Islamic school, private school, public school, weekend school, mosque program, or other structured educational setting.
- Experience teaching middle-school students and managing classrooms with varied academic, language, and behavioral needs.
- Formal training or demonstrated strength in Tajweed, Quran memorization instruction, Arabic as a second language, curriculum planning, assessment, or differentiated instruction.
- Experience using learning-management systems, educational technology, student-information systems, or digital instructional tools.
- Current teacher certification or other education-related credential is valued but is not required unless specifically applicable to the assignment.
