Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Autism Disorder Teacher for elementary students to join our vibrant educational community. In this role, you will design and implement specialized instructional programs tailored to meet the unique needs of students with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). You will collaborate closely with families, speech therapists, behavior specialists, and other educators to ensure each student receives comprehensive support aligned with their Individualized Education Program (IEP). Duties
- Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans that incorporate curriculum development, literacy education, math, and social skills tailored for students with autism and other developmental disabilities.
- Implement evidence-based behavioral therapy strategies and behavior management techniques to support positive behaviors and reduce challenging behaviors.
- Conduct assessments to monitor student progress, including standardized testing and ongoing formative evaluations.
- Collaborate with speech therapists, occupational therapists, and other specialists to integrate communication skills development and speech therapy techniques into daily activities.
- Maintain detailed documentation of student progress, IEP goals, and instructional modifications in compliance with special education law.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians through parent-teacher conferences, progress reports, and digital communication platforms to foster strong home-school partnerships.
- Manage classroom environment effectively using classroom management strategies that promote safety, engagement, and inclusive participation for all students.
Skills
- Proven experience working with children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD), neurodevelopmental disorders, or disabilities in an educational setting.
- Strong knowledge of childhood development principles, early intervention strategies, and special education laws.
- Expertise in curriculum development, lesson planning, instructional modifications, and literacy education tailored for elementary students with special needs.
- Proficiency in behavioral health techniques, behavioral therapy methods, and behavior management for students with developmental disabilities.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including speech therapists, behavior analysts, parents, and school staff.
- Familiarity with educational technology integration to enhance learning experiences for students with disabilities.
- Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse learning styles while maintaining classroom discipline through effective classroom management practices.
- Experience working within private or public school settings; familiarity with Montessori or preschool approaches is a plus.
