Job Description:
City University of Seattle School of Education and Leadership is seeking a qualified Associate Faculty to teach a course on School Law.
Course Summary:
EEA 524 School Law (3 graduate credits)
This course examines the legal role, responsibility, and authority of school leaders. The leader is responsible for the rights of students, parents, and personnel; responsibilities of school personnel regarding child abuse and drug abuse; liabilities, negligence, and torts; laws governing handicapped and special needs students and personnel; equity and nondiscrimination; public disclosure; certification and contracts; collective bargaining; and program management. The candidate builds capacity to apply legal regulations to the educational setting.

Minimum Qualifications:

- Master's degree in education or related fields.

Minimum of three years of professional experience as a principal, program administrator, or superintendent.

Demonstrated ability to provide a learning experience that links application with formal learning and adult learning theory.

Ability to work in a team-oriented system and deal effectively with professional staff, faculty, and culturally diverse students.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret standard technical journals and documents.

Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from students, staff members, and Program Director.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.

Demonstrated expertise in a wide range of school law topics relevant to school, program, and district administration is desired.

Experience using Brightspace Learning Management System (D2L) with templated course content is desired.

Experience in higher education setting with a diverse, global audience is desired.

Salary Information:
