SUMMARY
This position is responsible for assisting in the administration of the Regional Office of Education’s business affairs. This position supports accurate and timely payroll processing and maintenance of confidential payroll and personnel records. Responsibilities include payroll deductions, attendance, retirement reporting, tax and compliance requirements, and year-end reporting. The position works closely with Human Resources and Bookkeeping staff to ensure accurate records and compliance with organizational procedures and applicable regulations.
Key duties include processing payroll, deductions, timekeeping, retirement contributions, employee changes, and required tax and compliance reports. The position also stays current on payroll regulations and systems while providing training and support to employees and supervisors.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, & CRITICAL SKILLS
1. High School Diploma or equivalent required.
2. A minimum of 2-5 years’ experience in an accounting, bookkeeping, or related position. 3. Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc. 4. Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
5. Ability to push/pull up to 10 lbs.
6. Ability to communicate to students, parents and staff in an acceptable/courteous manner. 7. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills to work with teachers, education support personnel, building administrators and the general public.
8. Enforce school regulations and policies in a professional manner.
9. Ability to maintain good working relationships with fellow employees and pupils.
10. Requires 5+ years of payroll experience/deep knowledge of payroll concepts.

The Regional Office of Education is an intermediate agency between the Illinois State Board of Education and local school districts. The Regional Office of Education #33 works with nine districts across the four counties: Henderson, Knox, Mercer, and Warren. We have eight programs and nine different services, with over 400 employees throughout the four counties.
