Overview
National Barks Pet Resort is searching for several attentive, doting Camp Counselors to oversee the well-being of the animals in our care. The Camp Counselor’s responsibilities include showing love, care and concern by cleaning cages, administering medication, and providing animals with food and water. You should also communicate distress or diminished functioning to the manager on call.
To ensure success as a Camp Counselor, you should be able to anticipate and tend to the needs of animals. Ultimately, a top-notch Camp Counselor will be able to tailor their care according to animals' physical, emotional, and behavioral needs.
Responsibilities
- Transporting animals to and from the kennels.
- Ensuring that the animals have ample, fresh food and water at all times.
- Cleaning animal waste, spilled food, hair, and other debris from the kennels in a timely manner.
- Disposing of trash in a timely manner.
- Watching and participating in play groups.
- Accompanying animals on walks, if required.
- Calming animals who are in distress.
- Adjusting the air temperature to ensure that the animals remain comfortable.
- Reporting significant changes in functioning to the manager on duty.
- Evacuating all animals if an emergency occurs.
Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent of education and experience.
- Previous experience caring for animals will be advantageous.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Physically fit and agile including being able to sprint and intervene.
- Capacity to lift up to 50 pounds unaided.
- A passion for animal welfare and genuine love of dogs and cats.
- Available to work during evenings, and on weekends and public holidays, if required.
- Ability to pass a K9 first responder course within 1 month of hire.
- Ability to utilize standard office equipment and software to execute duties.
- Valid NCDL
- Age 18 or older
- Availability from either 5A-1P or 3P-9P Mon-Sun
