Thanks so much for reading! Leaps Ahead Learning Center is hiring to fill a lead teacher position! This would be a co-teacher position so you would be leading along with another teacher. Typically each teacher would alternate week on week off with planning lessons. We are looking for someone to work with children somewhere in the age of 2-3 years old, but the kids would be 2 most of the year. This position is for someone to create fun and engaging lesson plans, run a smooth and well managed classroom and help the children in your care develop into wonderful little individuals! We do have a strong lead teacher in the classroom so you would have someone else to assist with managing the classroom well. The employee must have a background in child development or have experience working with children. We are looking to work with someone that understands child development, talking to children in an age appropriate way, providing age appropriate activities and having a positive attitude. We would like to hire someone patient, fun, positive, reliable, kind and who is a team player! The ideal individual would also have a great attitude, be silly, be outgoing and help to create a fun day for the kids!
The individual we are looking to hire would need to be able to manage the classroom with kindness, patience and good direction. They would also need to be reliable, have a great energy and create a relationship with the kids! Please see "Job Responsibilities" for a list of daily responsibilities. *Qualifications*
--We are looking for someone to work Monday - Friday full time. Hours are typically 8am or 830am until 5pm or 530pm. We can discuss if there is an occasional shift conflict.
--To be a lead teacher, you must be 19 years old, have a high school diploma or GED, have your 90 hour certification or AA/BA degree that is equivalent to the required certification. Aides must be 18 years old and have a high school diploma.
--Employees must also have specific courses such as ADA, 9 hour communication course (or a college class taken) and Basic Health and Safety Training. Please inquire about the required courses and we can help you take any that you are missing! These are paid for by the center.
--Experience with children in some way is required. Experience counts as working in a center, babysitting, nannying, working in a school, interacting with kids such as family friends or siblings, etc. Professional experience is not required but we want to ensure this employee has experience interacting and engaging with children. We want someone that has experience interacting with children in the 2-3 age range and is comfortable with them!
--We need someone that can speak comfortably with parents and answer questions they may have. The individual must also be able to handle parent or classroom concerns and make sure the classroom is running smoothly.
--We need someone that catches on quickly, asks questions to learn more, wants to do their best for their students and maintains a calm and positive attitude throughout the day.
*Job Responsibilities*
-Changing diapers and assisting with potty training (also helping if a child has an accident) (Our twos classes do not require potty training but we change diapers and help them with potty training to prepare for the next classroom.)
-Serving meals and monitoring needs (refilling drinks or offering more food)
-Cleaning up after meals (wiping tables, sweeping)
-Playing with children, engaging during activities, singing songs, dancing, reading books, etc.
-Assisting with nap time
-Cleaning and prepping art materials and activities during nap time
-Communicating with parents about their child's day at pickup/drop off
-Using Brightwheel (childcare management app) to input diaper changes, meals, naps, photos and notes
-Being able to be on the floor playing with children, bending down, picking kids up, dancing, etc.
-Keeping a clean and safe classroom
-Lesson planning and creating monthly newsletters
