We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer with experience designing high-precision motion systems and electro-mechanical equipment. What You'll Do
- Design high-precision mechanical components and assemblies for advanced motion systems.
- Collaborate with controls, systems, electrical, and manufacturing engineers to develop, refine, and optimize product designs.
- Participate in concept development, design reviews, and prototype evaluations.
- Work with suppliers and vendors to source mechanical components, assemblies, motors, bearings, and related hardware.
- Create detailed 3D models and manufacturing drawings using Creo, SolidWorks, or similar CAD software.
- Apply GD&T principles to support precision manufacturing.
- Perform structural, thermal, vibration, and modal finite element analysis (FEA) to improve stiffness, accuracy, damping, and overall system performance.
- Support Design for Manufacturability (DFM) initiatives involving machining, sheet metal, and cast components.
- Analyze engineering data and validate designs using simulation and testing.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum qualifications include:
- Ph.D. with 0+ years of related experience
- Master's degree with 3+ years of experience
- Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of experience
- Experience designing motion systems, precision mechanical equipment, or mechatronic systems.
- Strong proficiency with Creo, SolidWorks, or similar 3D CAD software.
- Experience performing structural, thermal, vibration, and modal FEA.
- Design for Manufacturability (DFM) experience with machining, sheet metal, and cast components.
- Experience using engineering analysis tools such as Python or MATLAB.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with precision motion systems incorporating optical encoders, laser interferometers, linear motors, linear guides, or air bearings.
- Experience designing high-precision positioning systems.
- Knowledge of vibration testing, modal analysis, accelerometers, and impact hammer testing.
- Experience designing complex capital equipment or other highly engineered industrial systems.
- Familiarity with motion control, Simulink, and PID tuning.

Pay: $135,000.00 - $170,000.00 per year
