Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing and organizing dental instruments and equipment in accordance with infection prevention management and aseptic techniques.
- Assist dentists during various procedures including oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and other specialty treatments by providing chairside support with dental instruments and materials.
- Take and develop dental x-rays, including digital imaging and 3D scans, ensuring proper positioning and patient comfort while adhering to dental x-ray safety protocols.
- Manage patient records using electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring accurate documentation of medical history, treatment plans, vital signs, and medical documentation.
- Educate patients on oral health care practices, post-treatment instructions, and preventive measures to promote long-term oral health.
- Maintain clinical confidentiality policies while handling sensitive patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Support the dental reception team by managing appointment scheduling through patient management software and assisting with general administrative duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar dental clinic setting with knowledge of dental terminology and clinical procedures.
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; familiarity with patient management software is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of infection control procedures including dental sterilization protocols and aseptic technique.
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures accurately while maintaining patient safety standards.
- Knowledge of dental instruments, equipment operation, and medical imaging techniques relevant to general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and other specialties.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively educate patients about oral health care and coordinate with team members.
- Certification in CPR or Basic Life Support (BLS) is preferred; ongoing training in healthcare infection prevention is advantageous.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies.
