We are seeking a Project Accountant to join our downtown Chicago office. The Project Accountant will play a key role in supporting the financial management and administration of a diverse portfolio of engineering and architectural projects. This position will be responsible for project accounting, contract administration, invoicing, financial reporting, and monitoring project financial performance to help ensure projects remain accurate, compliant, and financially successful.
In this role, you will:
- Monitor and analyze project performance against budgets, forecasts, and financial targets.
- Maintain project records within the ERP system throughout the full project lifecycle, from initiation through closeout.
- Communicate project financial status, risks, trends, and variances to management.
- Collaborate with Project Managers to evaluate project burn rates in relation to project progress and completion status.
- Prepare and manage client invoices, including contract administration and billing support.
- Coordinate the timely review, processing, and payment of subconsultant invoices.
- Prepare and maintain general ledger (G/L) entries and supporting documentation.
- Develop and maintain executive-level financial and project performance reporting.
- Monitor and manage project variances and work-in-progress (WIP) reporting.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close activities.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, contractual obligations, and applicable accounting standards.
- Provide support for additional accounting and project administration functions as assigned.
We are looking for someone who has:
- Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related discipline preferred.
- Minimum of two (2) years of accounting or project accounting experience required.
- Prior experience within the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry preferred.
- Intermediate proficiency with Deltek Vantagepoint strongly preferred.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work in office five days a week.

Salary range is $80,000 – $90,000. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation within the range will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
