TITLE: Communications & Outreach Specialist
JOB OVERVIEW: The Communications & Outreach Specialist supports the growth and visibility of Valley Medical Center (Valley) through strategic storytelling, multimedia content creation, provider outreach, community engagement, and patient marketing initiatives. This role develops compelling content and campaigns that increase awareness of Valley's programs and services while strengthening relationships with referring clinicians, community organizations, patients, and key stakeholders.
Working closely with leadership, clinicians, and operational teams, the Communications & Outreach Specialist produces a wide range of digital and traditional content-including videos, podcasts, social media content, website content, and marketing collateral-to support service line growth as well as patient engagement. The position also assists with provider outreach, community partnerships, and targeted patient communication campaigns to help drive access, referrals, and organizational growth.

WORK HOURS: Typically 8:30AM to 5:00PM; some evenings and weekends may be required to fulfill job requirements.

PREREQUISITES:
Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, or related field required. Four (4) or more years of relevant experience, or a combination of education, may substitute for degree requirements.
Minimum of three (3) years' experience in communications, marketing, outreach, public relations and/or media required.
Experience writing and creating digital content for healthcare, nonprofit, media, or corporate audiences preferred.
Experience with video production, photography, podcast production, social media content creation, and content management systems (CMS) preferred.
Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook.
Experience coordinating community outreach, provider engagement, events, or relationship-building activities preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Exceptional written, verbal, and multimedia communication skills, with the ability to create compelling content across digital, print, social media, photography, video, and other multimedia platforms.
Excellent organizational and project management skills with strong attention to detail; able to prioritize multiple initiatives, meet deadlines, and remain calm and solutions-oriented in a fast-paced environment.
Strong storytelling skills with the ability to identify and develop engaging patient, provider, employee, and community stories.
Able to facilitate the development and implementation of relevant messaging; integrates new ideas and strong creative to enhance communication/engagement efforts with staff, patients, and the community.
Media and social media savvy with creative writing, photography, multimedia, and videography skills.
Experience planning and coordinating events, presentations, community programs, and outreach initiatives.

Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects and priorities concurrently and to meet tight and changing deadlines/priorities.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Produce multimedia content including videos, social media reels, podcasts, photography, newsletters, blog stories, patient testimonials, website content, presentations, and marketing collateral, ensuring messaging and brand standards are consistently met.
Identify, research, and develop compelling stories that highlight Valley providers, patients, services, programs, and community impact.
Support podcast planning, guest coordination, recording, editing, promotion, and distribution.
Ensure messaging is inclusive, clear, and appropriate for diverse audiences, including those with English as a second language.
Assist with provider communications, referral resources, educational materials, and outreach activities.
Develop and maintain effective relationships with departmental leaders, staff, providers, and community-based organizations.
Partner with creative services, media agency, outreach, and philanthropy teams to support integrated campaigns and initiatives, community engagement initiatives, events, and fundraising.
Maintain strict confidentiality of patient, employee, and organizational information and ensure compliance with privacy, security, and organizational policies.
