About Us
HART (Horses Adaptive Riding and Therapy) has been providing therapeutic riding instruction since 2015 for individuals with physical, cognitive, emotional, and social challenges. Our program is more than a place to ride — we are a supportive and inclusive community where riders, families, staff, volunteers, and horses work together to create meaningful impact.
We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and creative Therapeutic Riding Instructor to join our team and help change lives through equine-assisted services. This position is needed to work Thursdays (10am-4pm), Fridays & Saturdays (9am - 4pm).
Responsibilities:
- Plan and lead safe, engaging therapeutic riding lessons tailored to each rider’s needs and abilities
- Adapt teaching methods for riders with a variety of physical, cognitive, emotional, and developmental challenges
- Create a positive and encouraging learning environment that promotes confidence, independence, coordination, and strength
- Use creativity through themed lessons, games, and activities to keep riders engaged
- Track rider progress and modify lesson plans as needed
Communication & Teamwork
- Build supportive relationships with riders, families, caregivers, staff, and volunteers
- Communicate rider progress, goals, and concerns professionally and compassionately
- Work collaboratively with staff and volunteers to ensure safe and successful lessons
Horse Care & Program Support
- Assist with grooming, tacking, untacking, and exercising horses
- Support day-to-day program operations and maintain a safe environment
Qualifications
- Passion for nonprofit work and therapeutic riding
- Minimum 2 years of horse experience, including horse care and handling
- At least 1 year of experience working with children and/or adults in teaching, caregiving, therapy, or related settings
- Patient, dependable, compassionate, and comfortable working with individuals of all abilities
- PATH International certification or similar certification preferred, but not required
