Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel vehicles. This is a hands-on role that requires strong technical knowledge, the ability to work independently, and a willingness to support both in-shop and field service operations.
Compensation: Competitive hourly pay – Paid weekly; $20–$30/hour depending on experience
Shift: Monday–Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Overtime Eligible)
Responsibilities:
- Perform scheduled maintenance, inspections, and follow-up repairs on medium and heavy-duty vehicles, including hydraulics, engines, transmissions, brakes, HVAC, and suspension systems
- Diagnose mechanical and electronic issues using appropriate diagnostic tools and equipment
- Complete complex inspections and repairs with minimal supervision
- Replace defective components as needed
- Communicate effectively with mechanics, operators, and supervisors
- Provide roadside service and emergency repairs to company and commercial customer vehicles when necessary
- Respond to service calls in a professional and timely manner, ensuring high-quality customer service in the field
- Accurately document work performed both in-shop and during road calls
On-Call & Road Service Expectations:
- Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to support after-hours and weekend service needs
- Respond to roadside breakdowns and service calls, which may include travel to customer locations, job sites, or highways
- Maintain readiness to deploy for emergency calls, including having necessary tools and communication available
- Represent the company professionally while interacting directly with customers during roadside assistance calls
- Ensure safety protocols are followed in roadside and high-traffic environments
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred or willingness to obtain is a plus)
- 2+ years of experience diagnosing and repairing heavy, medium, and/or light-duty vehicles
- Must meet minimum tool requirements
- Strong familiarity with diagnostic tools and equipment
- Knowledge of diesel engine systems, hydraulics, transmissions, brakes, and suspension systems
- Ability to work flexible hours, including overtime and on-call rotations
