Toolmaker / Cutter Grinder / Tool & Die Maker | 2nd & 3rd Shift | Multiple Openings
Location: Marysville, MI
We are hiring experienced Toolmakers / Cutter Grinders for multiple openings on 2nd and 3rd shifts in Marysville, Michigan.
This opportunity is ideal for candidates with experience as a Toolmaker, Cutter Grinder, Tool & Die Maker, CNC Grinder, Machinist, Manual Machinist, Precision Grinder, Surface Grinder, or Maintenance Toolmaker.
We are looking for skilled, safety-focused professionals with strong mechanical knowledge and hands-on experience with machining, grinding, fabrication, tooling, and industrial equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate a mobile CMMS device for reactive calls and preventive maintenance assignments.
- Work with machining and grinding centers, heat-treat furnaces, and assembly lines.
- Troubleshoot automation, conveyors, and mechanical systems.
- Assist with inspection of robotic end-of-arm tooling.
- Work with pneumatic and hydraulic systems, force presses, gauging stations, and automated welding assemblies.
- Utilize tool room equipment, including lathes, Bridgeport mills, grinders, sanders, and welding equipment.
- Use calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators to ensure product quality and complete tooling inspections.
- Perform fabrication work using blueprints, drawings, layouts, and specifications.
- Test completed tools to ensure parts meet specifications and make necessary adjustments.
- File, grind, shim, and adjust components to ensure proper fit according to prints.
- Lift, position, and secure machine parts using hoists, vises, V-blocks, and angle plates.
- Cut, shape, and trim materials using power saws, power shears, rulers, and hand tools.
- Set up and operate drill presses to drill and tap holes for assembly.
- Inspect and operate mobile equipment, including forklifts and hoists.
- Assist with troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems.
- Work with outside vendors as needed.
- Minimize equipment downtime by completing work safely and efficiently.
- Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and preventive maintenance reviews to improve machine reliability.
- Comply with all safety requirements, IATF policies, and company procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of Toolmaker experience required.
- Experience with modern manufacturing and machining equipment.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge of machining, precision grinding, hydraulics, pneumatics, automation, and industrial equipment.
- Ability to read and work from blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
- Experience using precision measuring instruments.
- Experience with manual machining, lathes, Bridgeport mills, grinders, and tool room equipment preferred.
- Must have own tools.
- Ability to work safely and effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Willingness to accept direction from various members of the management team.
