Step into a vital support role assisting students with complex health needs in a school setting. Several contract openings are available for compassionate and skilled nurses (RN or LPN) for one-on-one assignments in elementary and high school environments near St. Louis, MO. Each nurse will be placed at a single site to care for a student requiring detailed medical and personal support for a short-term assignment (1–2 months) with the possibility of extension for the semester or full academic year, depending on district needs.
Key Qualifications:
- Current, unencumbered RN or LPN license in Missouri
- Valid CPR/BLS certification
- Recent experience in school nursing, pediatric, or acute care strongly preferred
- Expertise in seizure management, medication administration, G-tube care, and supporting students with physical and cognitive disabilities
- Comfortable with one-on-one care, including during bus rides and throughout the school day
- Able to complete all district-required credentialing, fingerprinting, and online seizure disorder training
- Willingness to review and acknowledge district-specific policies and procedures
- Must not have prior unresolved employment history issues with the district
Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized nursing care to assigned student, including seizure monitoring, medication administration, mobility assistance, and complete personal care
- Collaborate with school staff, therapists, and families to ensure safe, effective care plans
- Provide supervision and support from arrival to dismissal, including riding the bus as needed
- Maintain accurate health records and respond efficiently to emergencies
- Communicate student needs, progress, and incidents promptly to school and medical teams
This is a full-time, Monday–Friday, on-site only contract with a consistent weekly schedule during the school year. Each nurse is assigned to just one student, supporting ages 5 to 19 with significant health and daily living needs.
