Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support to individuals in need of assistance with daily living activities. This role is vital in enhancing the quality of life for our clients, ensuring their comfort and well-being in various settings, including nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and urgent care environments. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in patient care and be committed to delivering high-quality service.
Duties
- Assist clients with personal hygiene tasks, including bathing, grooming, and dressing.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to clients.
- Help with mobility and transfers to ensure client safety.
- Administer medication as prescribed and monitor clients for any side effects or changes in condition.
- Maintain accurate records of client care using electronic health record systems such as eClinicalWorks.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop personalized care plans tailored to individual needs.
- Assist with meal preparation and feeding when necessary.
- Ensure a clean and safe environment for clients by performing light housekeeping duties.
- Respond promptly to client needs and emergencies, particularly in critical care or emergency medicine situations.
Skills
- Experience in nursing home or assisted living settings is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with urgent care practices and infectious disease care protocols.
- Proficiency in medication administration and understanding of relevant healthcare regulations.
- Knowledge of pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) procedures is a plus.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Ability to work under pressure in critical care environments while maintaining a calm demeanor.
