Supervisory and highly skilled technical work responsible for coordinating the maintenance, repair, modification, replacement, and calibration of pneumatic, hydraulic, magnetic, and electronic instrument transmitters, receivers, totalizers, recorders, and complex controls used in water/wastewater treatment and pump stations. Oversees communication with computer interface in all the utility installations; applies principles/techniques of advanced state-of-the-art instrumentation, process control circuitry, programmable micro-processors, Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) controls, laboratory instrumentation, and advanced analog/digital circuitry. Exercises independent judgment within the accepted technical standards. Work is reviewed through conferences and examination of reports/equipment performance.
QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires qualified applicants to possess one of the following:
- Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification, supplemented by two (2) years of trades school formal training with emphasis in Mathematics/Physics; minimum of six (6) years of experience in industrial instrumentation and controls, which includes one (1) year of supervisory experience,
OR
- An Associate’s Degree in Mathematics, Physics, or closely related field; minimum of four (4) years of experience in industrial instrumentation and controls, which includes one (1) year of supervisory experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred qualifications include:
- An Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics,
- Process Control Instrumentation Certification, and
- Two (2) or more years of experience supervising Electricians and/or Instrumentation Technicians.
