Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during a wide range of procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, utilizing advanced clinical skills such as four-handed dentistry and chairside assisting.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray) ensuring proper technique and patient safety in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments, materials, and sterilized equipment following aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
- Manage electronic medical records (EMR systems) such as Open Dental to accurately document patient information, treatment plans, and medical history.
- Perform vital signs assessments and basic medical imaging when required to support comprehensive patient care.
- Support administrative duties including greeting patients as a dental receptionist, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and maintaining medical documentation.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient confidentiality and handling medical records with care.
- Assist with dental procedures.
- Use 3D scanners (itero) for precise imaging when necessary for treatment planning or prosthodontic procedures.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical coding to facilitate accurate communication and documentation within the clinic.
Experience
- Prior experience working in a dental clinic environment is highly preferred; familiarity with general dentistry procedures is essential.
- Proven ability to operate dental software experience with EMR systems is a plus.
- Knowledge of infection control standards, aseptic techniques, and sterilization processes is mandatory to ensure patient safety.
- Hands-on experience assisting in dentistry or working with special needs patients is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy enhances your ability to provide comprehensive support.
- Experience performing X-ray imaging and using digital imaging tools like 3D scanners will set you apart as an ideal candidate.
