The Burgettstown Area School District is seeking a dedicated and innovative Elementary Business Education Teacher to join our instructional team. This full-time position serves students in grades K–5 and focuses on developing essential life, career, financial, and technology skills that prepare students for future academic and personal success.
The successful candidate will provide engaging, hands-on instruction in keyboarding, digital literacy, coding, personal finance, internet safety, and career awareness while supporting the Pennsylvania Career Education and Work Standards. Students will develop age-appropriate financial literacy skills—including earning, saving, spending, budgeting, and making informed financial decisions—while also building the technology and problem-solving skills needed for success in an increasingly digital world.
The ideal candidate will foster creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and responsible digital citizenship through standards-aligned, engaging learning experiences while collaborating with colleagues, support staff, and families to promote academic achievement and personal growth.
- Plan and deliver engaging instruction in keyboarding, digital literacy, coding, personal finance, internet safety, and career awareness for students in grades K–5.
- Teach age-appropriate financial literacy concepts, including earning, saving, spending, budgeting, goal setting, and responsible decision-making.
- Implement instruction aligned with the Pennsylvania Career Education and Work Standards and other applicable Pennsylvania Academic Standards.
- Develop engaging lessons that promote computational thinking, creativity, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving.
- Teach responsible digital citizenship and safe, ethical technology use.
- Integrate instructional technology and innovative teaching practices into daily instruction.
- Use formative and summative assessment data to monitor student progress and guide instructional decisions.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the academic and developmental needs of all learners.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, administrators, and families to support student success.
- Participate in school-wide initiatives, professional development, and collaborative planning.
- Business, Computer and Information Technology PK-12 (or other appropriate Pennsylvania Department of Education certification for the assignment)
- Elementary teaching experience preferred.
- Experience integrating instructional technology into the elementary classroom preferred.
- Must possess valid clearances.
- Demonstrated ability to engage elementary students through hands-on, project-based learning experiences.
- Strong knowledge of instructional technology and digital learning tools.
- Experience teaching keyboarding, coding, digital citizenship, personal finance, and career readiness concepts to elementary students.
- Strong instructional planning, classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to integrate technology seamlessly into classroom instruction.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across grade levels and content areas.
- Passion for preparing students with the technology, financial literacy, and career readiness skills necessary for success in an ever-changing world.

In addition to a starting salary of $47,561.00 for a first-year Bachelor’s degree (salary is greater depending upon degree(s) earned and years of service in Pennsylvania) and a 186-day work year, all teachers are eligible for comprehensive medical coverage for themselves and their families with a very reasonable premium share (as low as $53.06/month for individual coverage), may participate in a flexible spending account, are issued a laptop computer and an iPad, and may receive tuition reimbursement for advanced study.
