Summary
We are seeking a Senior technician to serve as the Technical Lead for the Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) equipment installation team in Southlake, TX Network Equipment Center (NEC). In this role, you will focus entirely on the physical network infrastructure, equipment deployments, and layout of the data center floor. You will oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of cabinet installations, cabling infrastructure, and equipment break-fixes while managing technical vendor teams to ensure zero network impact.
This position strictly focuses on data center asset infrastructure, cabling, and cabinet-level capacity; it does not encompass facility plant operations (such as building chillers, plumbing, or primary electrical switchgear).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Vendor Management: Act as the technical lead for the deployment and installation teams. Coordinate and track installation contractors to ensure all work meets strict corporate standards, stays on schedule, and causes zero network impact.

Capacity & Cabinet Infrastructure Management: Manage floor space allocations, cabinet layouts, and available power, space, and cooling at the equipment space level. Implement data center airflow optimization strategies to maintain the target environment for hardware.

Cabling & Fiber Transmission Distribution: Coordinate the installation, testing, and troubleshooting of layer-1 network devices, fiber distribution systems, cross-connects, and transmission facilities (including Dark Fiber, EBH, 100G, and 10G).

Hardware Support & Break-Fix Operations: Provide physical maintenance and break-fix support for data center hardware, including cabinets, rack power distribution units (PDUs/RPPs), multi-vendor transport systems, and network equipment (Cisco, Juniper, Nokia, F5, A10, etc).

Change & Process Management: Draft, review, and execute detailed Methods of Procedure (MOPs) and change controls to influence physical infrastructure upgrades and center migrations.

Incident Response & Operations: Participate in an on-call rotation and late-night/early-morning maintenance windows to troubleshoot physical infrastructure issues and restore services to down equipment.

Inventory & Asset Tracking: Maintain an accurate inventory of all data center infrastructure, equipment, spares, and electrical panel schedules using localized tools.
What We're Looking For (Qualifications)
Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree, associate’s degree, or equivalent technical work experience.

Three or more years of relevant data center infrastructure experience.

Willingness to support flexible hours, on-call duties, and late-night shift work during designated maintenance windows.

Must be willing to work rotating hours as needed and may be assigned to various shifts.

Understanding of fiber optic installation techniques.

Ability to interface with and take direction from onsite customer representatives
Even Better If You Have:

Advanced Infrastructure Knowledge: Strong background in Data Center AC/DC power systems (at the rack/cabinet level), server/cabinet installation standards, and optical transmission equipment maintenance.

Testing Tool Proficiency: Familiarity with fiber testing and protocol analysis tools such as Fluke, T-Berd, Wireshark, and NetScout.

Systems & Software Experience: Experience tracking inventory and changes utilizing specialized data center and workflow applications (IFP, CND, Remedy, and FUZE).

Project Leadership: Demonstrated project management and vendor management experience handling physical infrastructure upgrades and migrations
