Job Summary
FoodTown Grocery is seeking an experienced, dependable, and customer-focused Grocery Clerk to join our team.
This position is ideal for someone with retail or supermarket experience who takes pride in keeping shelves fully stocked, merchandise organized, and the store clean and welcoming. The Grocery Clerk plays an important role in both store operations and customer service by ensuring products are available, properly displayed, and easy for customers to find.
We are looking for someone who is reliable, works well as part of a team, and can perform effectively in a fast-paced grocery environment.
Responsibilities
- Stock and replenish grocery shelves throughout the store
- Organize merchandise and maintain neat, attractive product displays
- Rotate merchandise and check product dates to help maintain freshness and quality
- Assist customers in locating products and answer general questions in a friendly and professional manner
- Receive, unload, and properly organize incoming merchandise and deliveries
- Maintain organized stockrooms, storage areas, and sales-floor inventory
- Assist with inventory counts and help identify products that need replenishment
- Verify pricing and product placement when stocking merchandise
- Use pallet jacks, hand trucks, RF scanners, and other store equipment when required
- Maintain clean aisles, shelves, displays, and work areas
- Follow proper lifting, stocking, safety, and loss-prevention procedures
- Assist other departments and team members during busy periods as needed
- Support store promotions, seasonal displays, and merchandising changes
Qualifications
- Previous grocery, supermarket, retail stocking, or merchandising experience preferred
- Strong customer service skills and a willingness to assist shoppers
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy retail environment
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work well with others
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to perform frequent lifting, bending, reaching, standing, and walking during scheduled shifts
- Ability to safely lift and move merchandise as required
- Experience using pallet jacks, RF scanners, or similar retail equipment is a plus
- Basic math skills for inventory counts and pricing verification
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
- Flexible availability, including weekends, evenings, and holidays, may be required
