Position Summary
The Senior Scan Technician – Records Storage serves as a subject-matter expert within the document imaging operation. This role is responsible for advanced scanning, indexing, quality control, and workflow oversight in a secure records-storage environment. The Senior Scan Tech supports production targets, ensures compliance with chain-of-custody and retention requirements, and provides day-to-day guidance to Scan Technicians.
Key Responsibilities

Perform advanced document preparation, scanning, indexing, and validation

Lead high-volume records conversion projects involving boxed client files

Verify box-, file-, and document-level identifiers against inventory systems

Ensure strict chain-of-custody and records security procedures are followed

Operate and troubleshoot production scanners and capture software such as Kofax / Tungsten

Conduct final-level quality control audits and approve completed batches

Identify indexing, image quality, or workflow issues and implement corrective actions

Train and mentor Scan Technicians on procedures, quality standards, and best practices

Serve as point of escalation for scanning, indexing, or document handling issues

Track daily production metrics and assist with workload balancing

Coordinate with supervisors on priorities, deadlines, and exception handling

Support audits, client requests, and compliance reviews

Assist with re-boxing, labeling, return-to-storage, or destruction preparation
Required Skills & Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent (associate degree preferred)

Minimum 3–5 years of document scanning or records management experience

Proven experience in high-volume records storage scanning environments

Strong understanding of chain-of-custody, retention, and confidentiality controls

Advanced knowledge of document capture and indexing platforms

Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills

Ability to lead by example and provide on-the-job training

Ability to lift up to 40–50 lbs and work on your feet for extended periods
Preferred Qualifications

Experience acting as a lead or senior technician in an imaging operation

Familiarity with compliance requirements (legal, medical, financial records)
