About the Role: Thompson Lumber Co. is seeking a reliable and hardworking Lumber Yard Laborer to join our growing team in Houston. As a Lumber Yard Laborer, you’ll be responsible for assisting customers, maintaining inventory, operating yard equipment, and ensuring the yard stays clean and safe. Key Responsibilities:
- Greet and assist customers with loading/unloading lumber and building materials
- Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment
- Maintain an organized, clean, and hazard-free lumber yard
- Monitor inventory levels and restock materials as needed
- Receive, inspect, and handle deliveries with care to prevent product damage
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures
- Support order fulfillment and delivery preparation
- Answer customer inquiries and provide knowledgeable product support
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in a lumber yard, warehouse, or construction environment preferred
- Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy materials (50+ lbs) on a regular basis
- Forklift experience is a must
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Basic math skills for inventory and measurement tasks
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
